Leda described Cary's skin as armored and couldn't even look at him. The scales had covered Cary's chest and all of his stomach. As the nights progressed it only got worse, spreading up his neck and to his face. Leda thinks that he is turning into an alligator. Cary even is getting scales in his mouth making him talk in grunts. Billy walked home in the cold rain and when he arrived he lied about where he had been.
